Part of The Artist's Life series
Michael Glassbourg Born in England, Camilla Singh currently lives and works in Toronto. Singh is a young and articulate artist who also works as assistant curator for the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art. She has worked in conceptual art, including audio, video, sculpture, photography, and performance. Her latest work is aesthetically seductive while interweaving hard pornographic images with images from the interiors of churches and cathedrals. Singh turned critics' heads with her work "Gentle Soothing Action," a multimedia installation which included a video of her showering. Camilla Singh shares the physical creation of her work while talking about the creative process. Her soft-spoken, thoughtful persona does not betray her edgy work. Singh is one of the most dynamic and challenging artists working in Canada today. Subject(s): Artists–Camilla Singh, Installation art, Women–artists |
