Your Mother Should Know

Peg Campbell
18:00 min. 2008
Available on DVD and VHS

This deeply personal narrative weaves a rich tapestry of memories and metaphors to look at the hopes and fears in mother-daughter relationships. The view is from the middle, as a daughter reflects on the relationship she had with her mother and considers the one she has now, in her role as mother of a 14-year-old daughter.

As the director states, “My mother said I came out fighting–with her. She died saying I had always been a joy to her, which was quite a sur-prise to me. My mother couldn’t protect me from experiencing the dangers of the world but I want to protect my daughter. Lucky for me she’s a more sensible girl.”
